Stateline Makerspace is part of a growing worldwide movement of people gathering together to make, build, hack, create, and repair things. These are often known as makerspaces or hackerspaces, and they’re like a community workshop. You personally may not have an enormous workshop filled with amazing tools…but now you do! Because you can stop by and use ours for free, whenever a member is present to host you. Or, imagine the freedom and power of getting a key for 24/7 access whenever you felt like making something! Just sign up for an affordable monthly membership and the world is your oyster.

We are a new makerspace serving the Illinois/Wisconsin stateline area, including Rockford, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Roscoe, Rockton, Beloit, Belvidere and Cherry Valley (to name a few). But even though our organization is new, our leadership team has nearly 15 years of combined experience with makerspace operations.

Note: We are not yet “open for business.” We have about 1,000 square feet of storage stacked “floor to ceiling,” housing all our equipment and supplies, and are ready to go with all the equipment, classes and other events listed on this website as soon as we can obtain a suitable building.

Skills & Community

We’re open to the public and give tours on various days and times. (See our Calendar for times.) We offer a variety of classes and other events, and host many low- or no-cost community programs. We have (literally) tons of tools spread across all types of making and plenty of space to use them, and lots of talented people to help you. Whether you want to learn a tool, hone a craft, build a business, or find a talented and creative group of makers, this is your place to build skills and community!

Membership

Guests are always welcome at Stateline Makerspace. But there are benefits to becoming a member! Members have 24/7 access to all of our tools, storage space, member-only classes and communication channels, and more!
